World Ventil8 Day

8th November 2022

World Ventil8 Day - 8th November 2022

We are getting behind the launch of WorldVentil8Day on 8th November, an international awareness campaign, spearheaded by scientists and engineers, to promote the critical role of better building ventilation in supporting health, well-being, and productivity.

WorldVentil8 day has been set up to raise awareness as a crucial part of enabling health and wellbeing of people. It also seeks to recognise and celebrate the ventilation and indoor air quality community. We want you to be part of it, whether you are a ventilation professional or someone with a passion for fresh air in your building. You can find out more at - https://www.worldventil8day.com/

Why We Need to Ventilation

Indoor air can be up to five times worse than outdoor air, this is increasingly worrying as Brits are now spending a huge 10 hours and 54 minutes more indoors each week than five years ago. This equates to a staggering 23 additional days each year. This can have a tremendous impact on people’s health, air pollutants can harm every organ in the body, contributing to chronic illnesses.

It’s really important that we understand, particularly now we’re seeing people spending so much more time indoors, there is a huge amount of confusion around indoor air quality, people wrongly assume that because they are inside, away from traffic, the air is clean and safe.

In a “sick home” inadequate heating and ventilation will lead to higher humidity levels, excess condensation, damp, and mould that can damage the very bricks and mortar of a house. As a result, the quality of the air within the building will become toxic.
