Nuaire Shortlisted for National Sustainability Award for Carbon Reduction Innovation
Nuaire is proud to announce that we have been shortlisted for the National Sustainability Awards 2025 in the Carbon Reduction category
National Sustainability Award
Nuaire is proud to announce that we have been shortlisted for the National Sustainability Awards 2025 in the Carbon Reduction category—recognition that reflects our leadership in tackling one of the most pressing environmental challenges in the built environment: embodied carbon.
The National Sustainability Awards celebrate organisations making meaningful progress towards a more sustainable future. Nuaire’s shortlisting comes as part of a highly competitive field that includes some of the UK’s largest and most prestigious companies and organisations, including financial institutes, health providers, and one of the largest IT and business consulting services firms in the world! Being recognised alongside these giants makes this achievement even more significant for Nuaire as a manufacturer rooted in South Wales, proving that agile, innovation-led businesses can lead the charge on climate action.
Our entry showcased our bold, measurable strategy to cut embodied carbon across our highest-volume products. We’ve pioneered the use of XCarb® low-carbon emissions recycled steel—becoming the first UK ventilation manufacturer to adopt this material—and transitioned to 100% recycled ABS plastics in key ranges. These changes have already resulted in the removal of over 2,000 tonnes of embodied carbon from our portfolio, without compromising product quality or performance.
This initiative is part of our broader sustainability mission as a member of the Genuit Group, which is committed to reaching net zero by 2050. Our work supports specifiers and developers in meeting carbon reduction targets.
“We are honoured to be shortlisted, and it’s a testament to the hard work and vision of our cross-functional teams who continue to innovate in the pursuit of cleaner, greener indoor environments” comments Alun Thomas, Nuaire Engineering Director. “At Nuaire we continue to place sustainability at the forefront of our innovation and design choices. Beyond physical product, we have also developed a parametric TM65 calculator that we use to target and strip embodied carbon from our products. We now have more than 80% of our product ranges’ embodied carbon mapped by volume and this informs our sustainability roadmap for future carbon reduction initiatives: Primarily focussed on Mass Reduction, Material Substitution and Energy Efficiency. This information has not only allowed us to reduce our own carbon footprint, but will also allow our customers to easily see the embodied carbon of the products they are purchasing so they can join us on our path to Net Zero.”
