Good ventilation: the foundation of a healthy home

Condensation happens when moisture builds up faster than it can escape. So the solution is simple in theory: remove the excess moisture and replace stale air with fresher, dry air. In practice, this means having a ventilation system that quietly and continuously keeps indoor air balanced.

Whilst residents can help by making small lifestyle changes — like keeping lids on pans or using a kitchen extractor fan when cooking —they’re rarely enough on their own, especially in modern, airtight homes. That’s where mechanical ventilation makes the difference.

Our solutions for every type of home

At Nuaire, we offer several ways to manage moisture in the home effectively, depending on the property type.

For newer, well-insulated homes, Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) is ideal. It extracts moist air from bathrooms and kitchens, supplies filtered fresh air to living spaces, and recovers most of the heat that would otherwise be lost — keeping the home comfortable and energy efficient.

Positive Input Ventilation (PIV) units gently introduce filtered air into a home, usually from the loft. This constant, low-level airflow pushes out stale, humid air and replaces it with drier air from outside. Over time, it creates a healthier balance throughout the house and prevents condensation from forming in the first place.  This is ideal for existing properties as, unlike MVHR, it doesn’t require extensive ducting to be fitted throughout the property.

If condensation is only affecting specific areas, like bathrooms or kitchens, local extract ventilation is a more targeted option. Our continuous extract fans quietly remove moisture at its source, helping to prevent it from spreading elsewhere in the home. These systems are especially effective in retrofits or smaller properties.

Choosing the right solution

Every home is different. A large family in a modern, airtight property will need something different from a single tenant in an older flat. That’s why we work with housing developers, landlords and providers to design systems that fit each space and budget.

The key is creating consistent, reliable ventilation that doesn’t depend on people remembering to switch things on or open windows. Our systems run quietly in the background, maintaining a healthy environment automatically.

Why Nuaire?

We’ve been solving condensation and damp problems for over 50 years. In fact, we pioneered the use of PIV in the UK. Today, our products are used in homes across the country — trusted by social housing providers, developers and homeowners alike.

Every system we design aims for three things: healthier air, lower energy costs and long-term protection for your property. And because every building is unique, we offer expert advice and support at every stage — from choosing the right unit to installation and aftercare.

Breathe easier, live better

Condensation might start as mist on the window, but it can quickly turn into a much bigger issue. The good news is, it’s entirely preventable. With the right ventilation strategy, your home can stay dry, comfortable and healthy all year round.

At Nuaire, we believe fresh air shouldn’t be a luxury — it’s the foundation of every good home.
