At Nuaire we provide car park ventilation systems and smoke extract fans to prevent the build-up of pollutants and control smoke density inside the car park.

Due to the potential danger posed within a car park environment, extract ventilation systems need to prevent the build up of harmful pollutants on a daily basis whilst providing high efficiency extraction in emergency situations.

What are the rules for ventilation in a car park?

Natural ventilation should be provided in car parks. As a British standard, car parks should have a permanent opening at each level with air ventilation. Car parks are also legally required to have smoke extraction and ventilation systems in place that must achieve at least 10 air changes per hour (ACH). The ventilation system must efficiently control and clear smoke to ensure the car park is safe at all times.

How do Jet Fan Systems work

Step 1:
On a day to day basis the system will always run at low speed, ensuring carbon monoxide and other harsh pollutants are within the acceptable limits. The system is controlled via the strategically placed detectors throughout the facility. In case of a vehicle fire and the smoke starts to spread, the system will begin the extraction.

Step 2:
If a vehicle fire starts within the facility the smoke detection will identify the situation, activate the fire alarm and then switch to smoke mode, the smoke detectors throughout the car park will identify which units are located by the affected fire zone and will increase their fan speed to allow for maximum extraction.

Step 3:
Once the smoke is contained, it is then directed towards the main exhaust unit where it can be safely extracted out of the facility and into the atmosphere, minimising the spread of smoke within the car park, keeping large areas clear and enabling the area to be quickly and safely evacuated.
