With one in five homes in the UK affected by recurring condensation dampness, it can become a huge problem for landlords.

Here at Nuaire we understand the importance of good ventilation and the ever-growing concern about poor ventilation in homes. That’s why since 1972 we have been continually evolving our Positive Input Ventilation (PIV) and our Extract fans.

What is PIV and how does it work?

Positive Input Ventilation (PIV) principl is a highly effective, energy efficient method of ventilating your home. Since being invented in 1972 our technology is now installed in over 1 million homes. The PIV principle supplies filtered air into the dwelling at a continuous rate.

PIV works by gently introducing fresher, filtered air into the dwelling from a suitably ventilated loft. Air is drawn into the unit and passes through filters before being pushed around the home - as the air moves, it dilutes contaminants, displaces and eventually replaces the stale, humid air in the home. Humid air is continuously moved out of natural leakage points throughout the home – such as windows, under doors or even through keyholes. PIV is a popular method of low-energy, whole-home ventilation, and is now installed in over 1 million homes in the UK.

Supporting Landlords

In recent years, legislation around ventilation in homes has drastically changed. Both condensation and mould have been proven to cause substantial problems to the integral structure of the building.

Since the tragic death of Awaab Ishak the need for landlords to take ownership of the ventilation within their properties has become more crucial than ever. It has been estimated that 15.3 million homes in the UK are at risk of Toxic Home Syndrome – a condition that has been proven to have major implications on health problems such as cancer, asthma, heart disease, and even obesity.

It has been shown that more than 20% of the Welsh population live in cold damp homes. This statistic shows the harsh reality living within modern homes which are being built to be as air tight and energy efficient as possible, greatly reducing the amount of natural ventilation provided.
