Caerphilly-based ventilation manufacturer, Nuaire has been named winner of the EEF South West Region Environmental Efficiency Award, for demonstrating how investing and implementing environmental efficiencies can result in significant cost savings for a business.
Nuaire is a UK market leader in the design and manufacture of energy efficient domestic, commercial and renewable ventilation solutions. The company won the award, sponsored by ENER-G, for its hugely successful campaign over the last 12 months, where it has reduced waste to landfill and recycled literally tonnes of metals, wood, cardboard, plastic and paper. It also invested £2m, with funding from the Welsh Government, in the upgrade of the plant machinery needed to ensure higher efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.
Commented Mark Huxtable, Managing Director of Nuaire : “We’re delighted to win this award. The company has bucked the trend seen in the wider manufacturing industry by continuing to grow and through its environmental and efficiency measures, its output has already increased by 28% over the last 18 months; with the £2m machinery investment made earlier this year, the company’s output is now set to more than double over the following year.”
The EEF awards, presented at @Bristol, recognise excellence in enterprise, innovation, environmental performance and skills development among UK manufacturers. The Environmental Efficiency Award is presented to the company which has done the most to improve its own environmental performance and/or reduce its carbon footprint whilst improving operational efficiency.
