Residential Design Estimator

Job Profile

Reporting to the Senior Estimator the role will prepare project specific design to suit enquiries received utilising their knowledge of residential ventilation systems. All designs will be prepared using Nuaire’s bespoke REVIT software. The role requires the individual to become an expert in ventilation and use their skills to drive the market forward from quotations prepared.

The Design Estimator will be responsible for his individual projects to ensure the smooth transition from concept to installation via site visits, working with external sales and regular customer contact. 

Key Responsibilities

  • To ensure that all department and individual KPI’s are met:
    • 6 minimum quotations per day

    • Minimum 90% of quotations on time

    • 98% accuracy  

  • To ensure that Residential Ventilation Unit and Ducting Designs meet appropriate SAP & Client requirements, conforming to best practices within Building Regulations Parts L & F and Housing Construction Methods
  • To ensure that the correct pricing standards are adopted for the appropriate client / project
  • Take ownership of the project to ensure the proposed design is practical for installation on site by attending a minimum of 1 site visit per month.
  • To ensure all opportunities for up-selling / cross-selling are achieved
  • To listen to the customers, identify and understand their needs & make sure that promises made are delivered
  • To feedback issues and ideas from Clients / Team interaction that will help Nuaire develop both its processes and products and improve its capability, performance and customer service levels
  • To take responsibility for your personal development needs to enable you to achieve what is expected of you, reacting constructively to feedback & taking positive action to improve skills, attitude and behaviour
  • To assist the Senior Estimator in Departmental Activities, working flexibly in a spirit of co-operation with all colleagues to achieve team goals and targets, carrying out duties as requested
  • To provide excellent Customer Service, being helpful, courteous and professional at all times, going that extra mile to deliver a great customer experience. Achieving a minimum customer service call monitoring score of 85%
  • To achieve a department customer service rating of 8 out of 10 based on department feedback from external sales and customers on a quarterly

Personal Profile

  1. Experience in Commercial Estimation with hands on knowledge of HVAC Sector, Ventilation Products/Solutions and Residential Applications in particular. Requires AutoCAD user knowledge, ideally with REVIT MEP system
  2. Possess good commercial awareness and strong understanding of Engineering, Architectural & Contractual Principles & Methods of Working
  3. Possess Energy, Drive, Ambition as well as a positive, ‘can do, make it happen’ work ethic and a keen attention to detail
  4. Highly organised with excellent time management skills
  5. A good communicator, influencer & team member
  6. Ability to grow & develop within a commercial environment to meet future challengers at Nuaire


  • It is anticipated the successful candidate would be educated to GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths. Engineering related Degree / HND / HNC would be preferable.
  • Experience in the Ventilation, Construction or Building Services industry would be preferable. 
  • It is expected that the successful candidate would have previous design drawing experience.

Residential Fast Track Estimating

Job Profile

Fast Track Estimator acts as the first point of contact with the salesman & customers with the main focus is to provide quotations & pricing. Low level technical support is also a key feature of the role. By applying both product knowledge & sales skills the Fast Track Estimator will capitalise on commercial opportunities through negotiation of price to order where possible.

Use all available information and experience to identify and promote upselling opportunities. Make a positive contribution to the company culture by being professional, courteous, helpful and supportive to customers and colleagues alike.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide all fast track quotations to customers and Nuaire sales representatives within 24hrs of receipt.
  • Take every opportunity to turn an enquiry into an opportunity for sales to visit the customer when applicable
  • Influence and advise customers on the features and benefits of the products to secure additional sales
  • Provide excellent customer service by being helpful and courteous at all times.
  • Take ownership and make sure promises are delivered
  • Maintain the flow of the project information by gathering key details from Customers
  • Ability to read and review AutoCAD drawing files
  • To achieve a department call capture rate of 98%
  • To achieve a minimum target of 15 fast track quotations per day
