How can Sunwarm Tile realise the energy saving potential in you roof?

• The energy benefit of using a loft to help preheat ventilation air has been known for many years. There is however more energy available than just in the loft.
  Extensive research has established that the air on top of slates/tiles (boundary layer) and trapped between your slates/tiles and the roofing felt can be significantly warmer than your loft during the heating season. Sunwarm Tile uses this additional heat, when it's available.
  Sunwarm Tile automatically determines the best location from which to draw warm air to suit your selected needs by continually sensing the air temperature in the various roof locations.

All year round ventilation

• Sunwarm Tile operates 24 hrs a day, 365 days a year. Unlike conventional positive input ventilation units which only draw in air from the loft, Sunwarm Tile is also capable of drawing air directly from outside. This is particularly advantageous during the non-heating season.
  Your unit control will automatically select air from either outside your home, the loft, or under the slates/tiles according to your selection.

Simple User control

• All you do is select whether you want cooler or warmer air, or something in between. Sunwarm Tile will follow your instructions automatically.

Intelligent heat recovery

• If, during the heating season, the temperature of heat available is greater than that in your home, Sunwarm Tile will increase its airflow automatically and deliver even more free heat into your home helping to reduce your heating bills.

Whisper Quiet

• For most of the time it is unlikely that you will hear your unit operating. The only time you may hear an increase in the units noise level will be during ‘intelligent heat recovery’ mode as described above.

The sun warms the tiles/slates, which in turn creates a warm “boundary layer” (1) and heats the area between top of felt and underside of tiles/slates (2). Sunwarm Tile draws air from this area via a plenum (a sealed chamber) fitted to the underside of the rafters and a system of ductwork.The air is then replaced with external air via the tiles/slates.
